Gjipe Beach

Linocut

120 EUR unframed
150 EUR framed

Finally presenting my so far largest and most detailed print. I took a black and white analogue photo of Gjipe beach in Albania a few years back and it had some kind of magic and tranquility. Since then I’ve thought about making a drawing, an illustration or a print of it, the idea has been there even before I started linocutting seriously. Carving those waves was definitely harder than I thought, depicting reflections, sparks, organic shapes with only shadow and light wasn’t easy. But I feel the print captured that calmness of the ocean I’ve felt drawn to since I’m on this earth. Growing up in Sweden close to the beach has definitely shaped me. As a kid my parents had to drag me out of the cold water with already purple lips. I will never have enough of the ocean.
